Gym Directions – GG


Check AES for schedule updates periodically, even as late as Saturday morning.

Coach must present their most updated printed AES Governor’s Games roster to ref before the beginning of each match.  Handwritten copies will not be accepted.  Schedule must be a printed AES Governor’s Games roster and must include players uniform # or they will not be allowed to participate. We don’t have the ability to print rosters at each site so be sure you remember to bring it.  And if you have any changes you need to make to your roster, do so asap as you won’t be able to update them on AES after Friday night.

Teams scheduled to play at Alario Center and Hilton should be aware that chairs are limited there.
Folding chairs are allowed at Alario and Hilton and we strongly suggest that you bring your own to assure you have a seat.
Please know the rules below regarding folding chairs and food/drink availability at your playing venue.

Directions from Hilton Hotel Parking Lot:
Turn Left onto Convention Center Blvd.
Continue for about 6 blocks to end of Con. Center Blvd. at Henderson St.
Right on Henderson St. for 1 block to Tchoupitoulas St.
Right on Tchoupitoulas for only about 300 ft to Up-ramp on right
Up-ramp will cross the Mississippi River
Continue Mississippi River Bridge to 1st exit at 9B / General DeGaulle
Take General DeGaulle “East” exit
Continue on Gen. DeGaulle for about 5 miles & go over a high rise bridge
At bottom of Gen DeGaullle high rise get in left lane toward Belle Chase
and take immediate left toward Belle Chase at 406 South
Go about 2 blocks on 406 South to blinking light
Turn left at blinking light by MRT sign and F. Edward Hebert Route.
Continue straight on F. Edward Herbert Route for about 4 blocks to Plaquemines Parish Government Complex {green sign}
Turn left at 333 F. Edward Hebert & go to 1st stop sign
Turn right at 1st stop sign & follow road & signs about 1 mile to
Multipurpose Center that is the taupe color corrugated building on left.
“No” outside food or drink allowed in Multipurpose Center.
Concession stand will be open serving jambalaya, hamburgers, hot dogs, chili, nachos, water, soft drinks, snacks.
Folding chairs are allowed in Multipurpose Center.

I-10 exit at Clearview Pkwy “South” / Huey P. Long Bridge
Continue Clearview Pkwy & cross the Huey P. Long Bridge
Immediately after crossing bridge follow signs for 90 West {2nd right}
{which runs right along side the Huey P. Long “train” bridge}
Continue on 90 West and follow signs to the Westbank Expressway {90 East}
You will come to a Stop Sign – Go straight at stop sign and onto the Westbank Expressway {90 East}
Continue on Westbank Expressway to 1st light at Segnette Blvd.
Turn right on Segnette Blvd. to the Bayou Segnette Sports Complex and “Alario Center”
Alario has limited seating.  Folding chairs are allowed and we strongly suggest you bring your own to assure you have seat.
No outside food allowed. Their concession stand will be open.

Important Note:
The Alario is a State Building and is run by the Super Dome Commission and has the same rules and regulations as the Super Dome.
1.  Outside food, drink, coffee and water are “not allowed” to be brought into the Alario Center.  {You can bring in an empty water bottle and fill it with tap water once inside}.

2.  All players, coaches, parents and spectators will have to pass through a “scanner” when entering the building.
3. Also, all “bags will be checked”.

 

the health club by “HILTON”  – 4 courts

The Hilton Riverside Hotel has 2 different parking lots.
Park, if you can, in the Hilton “Grage” Self-Parking Lot. If not, park in Outside Open “Whale” Paring Lot on Convention Center Blvd
I-10 toward downtown business district in New Orleans
Follow signs to 90 West “Business”-Westbank
Continue 90 West “Business -Westbank to Tchoupitoulas St./ South Peter St. Exit
Go straight after exiting – You will be on the Calliope St. service road.
Continue Calliope St. for 3 blocks to Convention Center Blvd.
Left on Convention Ctr. Blvd. for about 7 blocks to Girod
You will see a large whale painted on the side of the Hilton “Self-Parkin”g Garage on right
Slow down and make a sharp right turn onto the up-ramp of the self-parking garage
Take the Hilton “garage” elevator to the Health Club which is located on the 6th floor of parking garage.
{For those who want to avoid the crowded elevator on 5th floor of self-parking garage and don’t mind taking a flight of stairs to 6th floor,
the back door entrance to Health Club will be open. Stairs are directly across from” garage” elevator.}
If Hilton “Self-Parking Garage” is full, use the Outside Open “Whale” Parking Lot between Hilton Hotel and the Convention Center.
Seating is limited at Hilton. Bring folding chair to assure you have a seat.

“Event” Parking at the Hilton – $15 Pre-Sale from 7:am-3:00pm in Health Club on 6th floor in Health Club.
You must bring your Hilton parking ticket up to Health Club’s front desk by elevator and you will be able to “pay right at Health Club Desk” to get your “Event Parking” rate.  The Event Parking price applies only to those parking in the Hilton Self-Parking garage or Outside Open “Whale” Parking Lot.  This is for “Event Parking” for the tournament only – it is not an Overnight Parking passOvernight parking is for those teams who have rooms at the Hilton as they have to pay a different price for overnight parking.  Parking meters are not free on weekend.

Important Note:
Mardi-Gras parades will be passing in the area a few block away on both Saturday and Sunday.
We have been informed that Convention Center Blvd. will remain open.  But they advised to avoid Poydras at all costs and go from Tchoupitoulas exit to Convention Center Blvd.  And park in ground level “Whale” Parking Lot if Hilton “Garage” Parking lot is full.  But please leave extra early and allow ample time for any parade traffic issues.

 

“Academy of Our Lady” {AOL } –  2 courts

Gym is the building in back of the school.
Don’t park in lot on left in front of school as you enter.
Keep straight on driveway and park in lot on right side of gym toward back of school.

“Immaculate Conception” – Middle School Gym {1 court}

Middle School gym has steps & an elevator.

From Crescent City Connection
Travel Hwy. 90 West
Exit Barataria exit
Turn right onto Ave. D
Continue Ave. D for 4 blocks to Middle School Gym on right.
“No” folding chairs allowed.
“No” food or drink allowed in gym.  {Sorry, but there will “not” be a concession stand at Immaculate Conception.
{You can pack ice chest with food and drink, put in your trunk and tailgate from your car. But unfortunately, you can’t bring food into the gym.}
